In the DC universe The flash is the fastest man alive, but that’s fiction, in reality formula 1 drivers are consistently tasked with being quicker than any other human beings, and the quickest of the lot are Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
Going into the British Grand Prix(the 10th race of the season) Verstappen had won 3 of the last 4 races and led 7 time world champion Hamilton by 29 points, and for the first time in his career it looked possible, and more than possible, it looked likely that Verstappen could win the world championship.
Momentum is a great equalizer in sports, teams can ride it to the pinnacle of their sports, and others can fall into its trap and lose it all when it matters most, and for this race, the roaring British crowd at the iconic Silverstone gave Hamilton all the momentum he needed going into the first corner.
Verstappen and Hamilton fought tooth and nail, neither willing to yield a millimeter, and it was the unwillingness of either to yield that resulted in Verstappens huge 51g(the force was 51 times the force of his weight) crash. Hamilton was given a controversial 10 second penalty for his actions, but what followed those 10 seconds was nothing short of spectacular, and showed us exactly why SIR Lewis Hamilton is a 7 time world champion.
Chopping through the traffic in front of him, Hamilton found himself chasing after the the race leader and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who could only watch as Hamilton rode on his wave of momentum to win a record equaling 8th British Grand Prix. Verstappen still leads the championship, although now by a mere 4 points, but going into Hungary(the next race), the question is will Hamiltons momentum carry him into the lead of the world championship, or will Verstappen claw his way to become the youngest ever world champion.
